Ingrassia to retire as co-driver at the end of 2021

Julien Ingrassia announced today via his social media that he will retire from the co-driving seat at the end of this season with his last rally of his career being Rally Monza.

The French co-driver has been navigating Sebastien Ogier since 2006 and he is a seven-time World Rally Co-Driver Champion in WRC while he is very close to clinch his eighth title in WRC at the end of this season.

Earlier today, Toyota announced that Sebastien Ogier will continue as its driver and he will share the third car of the team with Esapekka Lappi next season, bit it is tipped that Benjamin Veillas will be the replacement of Ingrassia in 2022.

Veillas had been Eric Camilli's co-driver for years and he also has been alongside Ogier many times as the first one is the navigator of Ogier in all pre-event tests and he is one member of the gravel crew of the seven-time World Rally Driver Champion of WRC.

"This adventure started almost 20 years ago, in November 2002 with my very first rally as a co-driver", Ingrassia said.

"Just a couple of years later, in January 2006 I met Séb and we decided to combine our skills and will to accomplish our mission in the best possible way.

"What a journey it has been since then!

"Hard work at every second, some indescribable joys and emotions, so many people met all around the world.

"I’m deeply proud of what we have accomplished together with Séb, all this energy and determination we spent across all those teams we’ve been part of, all those challenges we had to face.

"After those thousands of pacenotes pages, it’s time now for me to write some other lines of my life, and this is why I decided to end my career after the last rally of this season.

"I want to say ‘thank you’ to all of you for the support you have given me, and all those emotions we shared together!"
